Are more women interested in fantasy football than we think?

For some women, fantasy football has become equivalent to shopping: they just can't get enough.

For the rookies who are unfamiliar with the game, Senior FOX Sport Editor simply describes fantasy football as a game where fans make up their own football team using actual NFL players and compete against teams created by other fans.

While some might think that fantasy football is only fancied by men, more and more women are participating. As a matter of fact, a Harris Interactive Poll discovered that out of an estimated 30 million people who play, 6.5 million are women.

Some women participate in fantasy football as an excuse to throw parties and socialize; on the other hand, some use it as an extra tool to enhance their love for the sport. For whatever reason they choose, football fantasy has become a "shopping diverter" for women and an exciting game to enjoy.

So for the NFL season, you can expect to see less women in Macy's and Dillard's on Sundays as they would rather shop online-- for pro athletes, that is.
